|British Caribbean Heritage Project 2014!|
This project aims to research and share British Caribbean Heritage in Waltham Forest.
The Project has two parts
Part two will involve me exploring oral histories and library and museum archives to write a short play to be
performed in local libraries and community centres. The project will be delivered with the support Waltham Forest
libraries and museums.
Part two involves elders in the community being interviewed by school children. In addition children will explore
information in library and museum archives. The Heritage discovered will be shared through theatre piece
devised by the children and will be performed in schools.
The Write Network was launched with funding from the charity Unlimited January 2013!
The first project will support writers in waltham Forest. Each writer will receive a budget to attend writers' talks and seminars. They will receive; free creative writing workshops, sessions to improve performance/reading of their work, use of social media for writers, the opportunity to be published and much more.
The launch of the anthology will be September 2013. Watch this space for further details!

Waltham Forest Writer's Network
I am at present trying to secure funding for a writers' network which will support, encourage and guide local writers. The scheme will involve regular workshops and mentoring. I'm hoping to begin Febuary 2013. Do get in touch if you are a local writer and would like to be involved!

Writer in Residence at Leytonstone Festival and Leyton Day Celebration
I have been working with a group of Waltham Forest writer since the spring. The group consists of ethnic minority groups, under eighteens and over fifties. Our weekly meetings at Leytonstone library have produced a collection of stories and poems on theme of identity. I have also been working with under eighteens at the Limes Children's Centre. The anthology is due to be launched at the Leyton Day Celebrations 9th September.
The Spoken Word evening at Leytonstone library was a wonderful celebration of the local writing talent in the borough.
The launch of the Anthology went beautifully! The event was attended by a broad section of the community. You caqn down load a copy from this site or pick a copy at the William Morris Museum or Vestry House.

A project records Waltham Forest children's perspectives on the London 2012 Games through poetry. This is a ten week project from March 2012. An anthology of the stories and poems will be published in summer 2012. The anthology of poems and stories were published September 12th It was a wonderful project to be part of and I'm very proud of Year 5 in St Marys Primary School. Have a look at the article
Free the Word Writing Retreats 2011
These are long weekends organised for anyone who would like to write long or short fiction, a lifewriting project or a collection of poetry on a budget. In a supportive enviroment you will take part in writing exercises and share your work. There will also be the opportunity to give and recieve feedback from your peers and workshop leader.
Writer in Residence for Rowan Arts
The residency runs from January 2012 to June 2012 and involves taking the oral histories of residents born and bred in the Holloway area. An anthology of stories will be published and distributed in the June festival. I will write and direct a short play using ideas collected in the oral history project.
